Meet Sia-Sia, The Host 

Sia-SiaA typical African woman is meek, full with a sense of humor, caring, understanding, and willing to go the extra mile, “yet full of passionate pride for her rich heritage and culture,” while acknowledging others as well. It is nice to know where one came from and where one plans to go. The pride of Africa guides most Africans to pursue their heritage dreams, and Sia-Sia is no exception to that rule. Sia-Sia wears many hats. She posses a treasure of confidence, which blooms when she hosts. The Yaba TV Show. She is a true beauty of a distinct African woman, and her smile is unforgettable.

Sia-Sia is no stranger in the entertainment business. The name Sia-Sia is distinguished among viewers from the South Central Los Angeles, since December of 1992, on Continental Cablevision, which is now known as MediaOne. She started her television career on Christmas day in 1992. Her first show aired on Continental Cablevision in South Central Los Angeles at 8:30 pm on a Friday. She started as a local originator, hosting a show in partnership with the station. Later, she was able to change her contract to an independent producer, with a total control of the airtime given to her. Viewers were thrilled to see a show about Africa hosted by a native of Africa. Some viewers described the show as refreshing, educational, entertaining and fun. At the time, the name of the show was called “The Chesima Series,” which means the truth about our cultures. Today, the show is simply called “The Yaba TV Show.”  Yiaba is Sia-Sia’s last name, but she dropped the “i” and incorporated the company as “Yaba” for easy pronunciation.

While hosting her own TV Show, Sia-Sia has interviewed many major celebrities, business people, community activists, educators, doctors, lawyers, entertainers, and other influential personalities including special appearances of some African Presidents, and other major politicians locally and across Africa.
